Pyrrhura Conures    The Quiet Conures

Conures make wonderful intelligent pets.  Remember these birds have absolutely no odour and no featherdust. They are quiet, great for an apartment and very affectionate.

It is really important to provide your bird with more than just a seed diet which includes a diversified range of fruit, vegetables, nuts and sprouted seeds in order to ensure that your little mate is in top condition and receives essential vitamins and nutrients.  Feel free to experiment with different food combinations or even let them try to taste what you are eating off your own plate!!!!...They will  certainly show you what they like...  You'll always find birds that have feathers in great condition and  respond well are fed a well balanced fruit and veggie diet.

Please ensure that at the least your parrot receives good daily servings of fruit and vegies EVERY DAY along with fresh water.  Below is a list of various foods which we feed our birds.

We feed a basic small parrot or peachface seed mix and then we include...

  • Seasonal Fruits (except avocado):   pawpaw's, apple, oranges, nectarines, bananas, peaches, grapes, pears, watermelon, honeydew, rockmelon, love passionfruit, soft tinned fruit salad, cherries, mango

  • Seasonal Fresh Vegetables (except lettuce) – this can include cooked and uncooked vegies, fresh and frozen.  Chopped vegetables, peas, beans, grated or steamed carrot, steamed sweet potato, raw spinach, celery, corn on the cob.

  • Defrosted Corn and Peas - The birds love to peel the outer skins off and eat the soft insides.

  • Dried Fruit and Nuts (please ensure nuts are not salted) -

  • Fresh Nuts still in their shell - The larger birds can spend hours cracking the nuts open and devouring the tasty insides. Nuts such as pecans, walnuts, almonds pistachios etc...
