The Caique Shop
There are a few different types of Caique species in South America, but here in Australia we see mainly 2 types. The White Bellied Caique and the Black Headed Caique
Caiques are a comical species that originate from parts of South America and are well known for its distinctive plumage, playfulness and clown like characteristics. They travel in small flocks and family parties and lack the powerful flight skills that may be seen in many of the South American Parrot species. A variety of fruits, nuts berries, seeds and even live food form the diet of these birds in the wild.
Here at Porra's Parrots we feed our caiques on a seed diet of peachface or small parrot mix and then they also get a lot of nuts, fruit and vegetables daily. We also have plenty of toys and branches in our Avian Habitats so our birds are always foraging, playing and having fun keeping themselves entertained.
